Galway minors started there
2008 championship in Markievicz
Park
on Saturday with a hard earned
two point win over Sligo by 0-11
to 0.9, played before a fair
sized attendance including
President Nicky Brennan. Galway
lead at the break also by two
points 0-7 to 0-5 with our
scores coming from Danny Cummins
0-2, Michael Kelly, David
Shallow and J. J. Greaney with a
point each, Sligo played the
more direct football in the
opening half even if the winners
had the majority of procession
but they failed to show it on
the scoreboard having missed a
penalty and a goal chance with
only the goalie to beat the shot
went harmlessly across the goal.
Danny Cummins opened our second
half scoring with a point after
only one minute with Greaney
adding another three minutes
later with our other scorers
coming from Cummins 0.2 Shallow
and sub Ronan Burke scoring a
point each The ‘Man of the
Match’ went to Claregalway’s
Danny Cummins who shot five
points and was also involved in
setting up scored scores for the
other forwards, Others to play
well Galway were J J Greaney,
Sub Ronan Burke and Enda
Mullarkey but a big improvement
in required if were are to
advance in the competition
