Game 2.    Limerick 1.09                         Galway 0.17

Eugene Cloonan wins possession ahead of Stephen Lucey

Kevin Broderick was back to his best form

Galway and Limerick clashed in the second round of the National Hurling League at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday March 4th on a very wet and cold day before a surprisingly small crowd. Both teams had good starts to the league especially Limerick who defeated Tipperary in Nenagh. Galway had the advantage of the strong breeze in the first half and found it hard to build up any kind of a lead against a very physical Limerick side. Eugene Cloonan did most of the scoring for Galway in the first half keeping them ahead most of the time except when Sean O'Connor, the Limerick full forward scored a wonderful goal midway through. Galway lead at half time by just one point, which did not look enough. Ger. Loughnane made three changes for the second half as a complete new half forward was formed. Galway quickly got on top and got some quality ball into their deadly full forward line where Kevin Broderick and Damien Hayes caused all kinds of problems. Galway were always in control and ran out comfortable winners. They now sit pretty on top of the table with four points.
