to day Galway recorder there third win
in row in the Allianz National League
with a two point win over visitors
Tyrone, Galway wore the ‘Aer Arann’ for
the first time and hopefully they will
be flying high as well for the rest of
the league. Michael Meehan opened the
scoring after four minutes with point
and three minutes he found the net to
push his side four points ahead, Tyrone
had the next four scores from Sean
Cavanagh a goal on seventeen minutes
with points following from Ryan Mellon,
Colm McCullagh and Owen Mulligan to give
them a 1-3 to 1-1 lead after twenty one
minutes. Eddie Hoare pulled one back for
the home side a minute later with Gary
Sice adding another three minutes later
to tie the scores as we ticked into the
last five minutes of the half. Tommy
McGuigan and Michael Meehan exchanged
points in the remaining minutes to leave
the score 1-4 each at the break. Sean
Armstrong replaced Paul Geargthy after
twenty six of that half.
Galway
had the three scores of the second half
points from Sean Armstrong (2) and
Michael Meehan, but after six minutes
the visitors goaled from Raymond Mulgrew
to level matters again. Fiachra
Breathnach, Hoare and Meehan gave Galway
a three point cushion as we approached
the mid way point of the half , Colm
McCullagh shot his second point for
Tyrone to leave them trailing by 1-10 to
2-5 on twenty minutes.
Tyrone made a double substation bringing
on Justin McMahon and Niall Gormley for
Dermot Carlin and Colm McCullagh and it
was Gormley who had their next point.
Niall Coleman pointed for Galway after
twenty three minutes but the visitors
had the next three points from Mulligan
(2) and Ryan McMenamin to leave the
score on twenty eight minutes
Galway 1-11 Tyrone 2-9.
Coleman pointed a minute later to level
the scores again and points from Sice
and Meehan gave
Galway the victory and moved
them to the top of the table with a long
trip to Donegal on March 15th for the
round four game.
