The Clash of Galway and Kilkenny is always a game to wet the appetite and even though both teams had qualified for the knock out stages of the League, their clash in Cloonan and Fergal Healy before Kilkenny got into their rhythm. Galway who were playing with the breeze went in at half time leading by 0.12 to 0.09. The game turned on it's head with two talking points in the early stages of the second half, first when the management instructed Eugene Cloonan to take his point from a penalty and then when Eoin McCormack stole inside the Galway cover to score the games only goal a few minutes later. While Galway fought to the end their was only ever going to be one winner. Galway now meet Wexford in the quarter final on Sunday next.
