Kilnadeema/Leitrim General meeting January  2nd 2012

One of the largest crowds ever to attend a general meeting of Kilnadeema/Leitrim club took place in Leitrim Community centre on Monday January 2nd. chairman John Skelly welcomed everybody. The first item on the agenda was the Lotto and how to revive it and to sell more tickets each week. The Chairman requested that all players of which he had a list of over 140 adult players must purchase at least one ticket each week, a situation he was disappointed to note was not been done at present. John then relayed to the meeting that a recent executive meeting it was decided to re launch the Lotto with the numbers been increased to 32 numbers. With a lot of both parishes still not been covered it was decided to cover it by station area's. it was also hoped that no other club would be selling tickets in the Pub we are in on a Saturday night. Jim Collins said that the card idea used by the Juvenile club had worked very well last year. It was also discussed about the possibility of selling it through the web site with a company called local lotto.ie. it was also stated that yearly and six monthly tickets were a good way to go. Teams were then picked to cover the seven pubs each week.

John Skelly then informed the meeting about the sporting Knowledge quiz  which was been run by the club at the moment. He said a big push was needed on this novel idea with the closing date been the end of January. He asked everybody to push this at home and work.

The Chairman then informed the meeting that it was decided at the last executive meeting to pick a finance committee under the stewardship of treasurer Miriam Comer to come with fund raising ideas for the coming year. Their would be 12 people on this committee.

The meeting was also informed about a membership day in the club which would be held in both Leitrim and Kilnadeema on Friday January 13th at 7pm. John said it was decided to approach power Sports with regard to a discount system been put in place with your membership card.

The final item on the agenda was what most of the attendance came to the meeting for, the picking of team managers for 2012/13.  Jim Collins, chairman of the steering committee then proposed Jimmy Heverin as the new Intermediate and Under 21 manager. he would have Michael Geragthy out going Under 21 manager with him plus a few more selectors to be approved at a later meeting. Des Roche was proposed as Minor manager, both were accepted.

John Skelly said that having spoke to Jimmy at length recently he was very impressed by him. he said that Jimmy hoped to have the club senior with substance within 3 years. 

it was agreed that anybody interested in been a selector with Jimmy  on both the Intermediate and Under 21 teams would have to apply to the Secretary before 1st February.

There was a long discussion on the Junior B managers position with Martin Flynn  eventually elected after it was approved that Ramie Larkin would be joint Manager with him.

Management teams appointed for 2012/13

Former Portumna All Ireland winning manager Jimmy Heverin, who also managed Salthill/Knocknacarra senior football team in more recent years has been approved by Kilnadeema/Leitrim club on the recommendation of the new steering committee to take over as Manager of Kilnadeema/Leitrim Intermediate and Under 21 teams for the next two years. Jimmy will be assisted on the line by club Secretary Michael Geragthy and other selectors to be appointed at a later date.
