A new
health initiative has been launched by
the GAA in association with the HSE. The
requirement is for people to abstain
from alcohol for a period of one
month. In a change to the normal health
advise "Off the booze and on the ball"
offers players and community members the
opportunity to raise money for their
local club.
The challenge was extended personally by
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael,
Criostóir Ó Cuana, who launched the
event with Minister of State at the
Department of Health, Róisín Shortall in
Croke Park on November 22. The
initiative is being driven by the
Association's Alcohol and Substance
Abuse Prevention (ASAP) Programme - a
joint initiative with the HSE that aims
to reduce the harm caused by the misuse
of alcohol and other substances.
Our Club intend to
run the event over the next few months.
It is hoped that all adult players will
take part and will be approached by team
management in the next few weeks.
For those interested in taking part in
the event you can read more about the
scheme and download your sponsorship

Forms must be signed by either Club
Secretary - Michael Geragthy or

general to get involved in a
wonderful health initiative.
