Liam Geargthy, one of Kilnadeema/Leitrim's most promising up and coming hurlers was a member of the NUIG collages senior team which had a great run in this year's championship, which resulted in the team going all the way to the final before losing to the Joe Canning inspired Limerick IT side by 2.15 to 0.13 in the final in Carlow on Sunday March 11th. Liam was one of the outstanding players on view during the competition and this argues well for his hopes of making the county Under-21 team in 2007. Another notable feature about the collage team  was that they were coached by one Mattie Murphy, also Kilnadeema/Leitrim coach in 2007.
