| Kilnadeema/Leitrim and Mellick/Eyrecoart meet
in a rearranged Intermediate League game in Leitrim on Wednesday
April 4th. This was a big game for both clubs if League success was
to to be achieved later in the year and was also a good guide for
Kilnadeema/Leitrim to see how they were going against a team who
were Senior last year. The game was played at a championship pace
all through with Mellick/Eyrecoart much the better team in the first
half scoring their two goals to open up a lead at half time. Eamon
Hyland playing at full forward scored his sides goal with a well
struck shot. Sean Burke from play and Tom Tierney from placed balls
were also very prominent on the score board for Kilnadeema/Leitrim.
With David Tierney having a great game at centre half back
Kilnadeema/Leitrim took over in the second half with some great
scores coming from Tom Tierney again, Shane Flaherty and Sean Burke,
but it was the display of Eamon Hyland that really gave
Kilnadeema/Leitrim a foot hold on the game with some wonderful
points from all angles to leave his side winners in the end 1-17 to
2-11. This game was a good test for Kilnadeema/Leitrim and sets them
up for even better performances ahead.
