Congratulations to Conal Whelan of Cahercrea who recently won the Galway Boxing championship for the second time in Galway Boxing Club. Boxing with Loughrea Boxing Club, Conal follows along line of Kilnadeema/Leitrim hurlers who have boxed with Loughrea and won titles including the Conneely twins, Padraig and Alan Mahon, Terry Crowe and David Spellman. Conal will hope to add his second  Connacht title to his honours list in the near future. After that he can concentrate on Minor and Under 16 hurling for 2008.

We can now reveal that Conal did add his second Connacht title to his collection when he won the title in Westport. He now goes on to represent Connacht in the All-Ireland finals in the national stadium in Dublin when he will hoping do bring home an All-Ireland title like his dad Ferdie did in 1973.
