County Camógie Final 7 a side played in Craughwell on Wednesday June 11th
Kilnadeema  6.06   Drim  6.00
Kilnadeema National School won the 7 a side County Camógie final under wet condititions in Craughwell after  a hard fought battle with Drim National School to record the School's first ever title in their first year taking part. Kilnadeema opened the scoring with a goal from Captain Ciara Donoghue early on. This was soon followed up with another goal from Emma lawless to leave her School leading 2.00 to no score. Drim got off the mark a few minutes later with a goal of their own and levelled the game a minute later with another goal. The next and final score of the first half came from the stick of Ciara Donoghue who put over a point to leave the half time score reading 2.01 to 2.00. Kilnadeema were dominant throughout this half with their wides tally at four compared to Drim's two. Drim opened the second half scoring with a goal in what was to a action packed and exciting half. They soon followed this up with a second goal minutes later as they dominated the start of the second half and leading 4.00 to 2.01. After the shock of those two goals Kilnadeema started to gain possession again resulting in the next few scores of the game, the first being a goal from Ciara Donoghue and points from Ciara Donoghue again and Emma Lawless leaving the score reading 3.04 to 4.00 in Kilnadeema's favour. The excitement was unbearable now as Drim came back again with another goal to take the lead again. Minutes they had another making it a very interesting contest and leaving you wondering if Kilnadeema would be able to get back on top once again or would Drim push on for victory. It was a great comeback from Drim and it was to get even better when they yet again got a goal showing their dominance of the half to date and now 5 points ahead. It was now that Kilnadeema seemed to kick into action keeping Drim scoreless throughout the remainder of the game while they themselves went on a scoring spree. This was started off by none other than Ciara Donoghue with another goal followed up by  a brace of points from Ciara herself and Laura Sweeney to level the game 4.06 to 6.00.Kilnadeema were not done yet and two substitutes were to have a big say in the destination of the title. First Lisa callanan who came on for Emma Lawless scored another goal to unbelievably put her team ahead again by 3 points. Then entered the other sub Cassandra Mitchell who scored another 3 pointer to create history as Kilnadeema were winners of the Camógie title for the first ever time. Captain Ciara Donoghue received the Shield which will be in the school as a reminder of this great Camógie team and puts then up there with the Boys Hurling and Football teams who have won titles in the past. This was an excellent and hard fought victory. They hadn't it all their own way in the second half but battles hard and fairly the whole way through. Credit to both teams for this excellent display which was played in a very sporting manner highlighted by the fact that there was only one free awarded throughout the game. This was a trilling encounter which was enjoyed by all who were there to witness this piece of history been created. Well done to all the players involved and to Joe Sweeney who trained the team.
