Craughwell prove no match for Under 12 team as Liam Kelly gives five star performance

Kilnadeema/Leitrim 2.06 Craughwell 0.02

Craughwell got their 2008 Under 12 campaign
underway when they took on Kilnadeema/Leitrim in the second round of the championship on Monday evening last in Craughwell. Kilnadeema/Leitrim, who already have a win under their belts looked sharper from an early stage even though Craughwell started off very well and but for some smart goalkeeping from James Donnellan they would have probably lead. We had to wait ten minutes for the opening score which was a close in free converted by Liam Kelly for Kilnadeema/Leitrim (Liam was to play a major roll in this game).  Craughwell's Thomas Monaghan thought he had equalised shortly after, but he saw his well struck free taken down off the crossbar by Stephen Roche. The only other score of the half was a very important one when Liam Kelly struck a 21 yard free to the net after great work from Shane Fahy to leave the score reading at the break 1.01 to no score. It was raining very heavy for nearly of that first half. The second half was dominated early on by Kilnadeema/Leitrim with Liam Kelly shooting over a free after one minute. Three minutes alter the first score of the game from play arrived when Liam Kelly shot over a wonderful point from near the sideline. A minute later  he pointed another from play as Kilnadeema/Leitrim lead by seven. Liam who was on fire all day and certainly the man of the match soon added another point from play after 7 mins. Craughwell who came a lot more into the game in last ten minutes eventually got their opening score after 8 minutes when Thomas Monaghan shot over a free. The game was certainly over four minutes alter when Liam Kelly again got on the end of a loose ball to score a very easy goal and leave the score reading 2.05 to 0.01. Thomas Monaghan soon added a point from play before Liam Kelly again with a pointed free closed out the scoring on a final scoreline of 2.06 to 0.02. Both teams used their substitutes towards the finish. This was a great success for Kilnadeema/leitrim with a wonderful 2.06 from Liam Kelly ( Son of Shane Kelly, former Loughrea and Galway star). This victory should secure a quarter final place for Kilnadeema/Leitrim while for Craughwell their are many better day ahead for them and they will have a big say in who will qualify yet. In Thomas Monaghan in particular they had a rising star as well ( Son of Pat Monaghan, Galway Coach ).
