Under 14 Feile na nGeal championship Rd one
Wonderful start for Under 14 team in first ever Feile game
Kilnadeema/Leitrim 2.03 Castlegar 1.04
Kilnadeema/Leitrim
competing in the under 14 Feile na nGeal A
championship for the very first time recorded a
famous two point victory over one time king pins
of Galway juvenile hurling Castlegar in leitrim
on Easter Monday. The game which was played on a
heavy pitch was closely contested all through
with Castlegar on top early on. While it was the
city side who opened the scoring with a
free in the first minute from James Concannon,
it was Kilnadeema/Leitrim who soon got the
important scored of the half with first Ryan
Murray equalising from a long shot from
midfield. Shane Sheridan did resorted
Castlegar's lead for a few minutes with a point
from play before the decisive score of the half
arrived on 12 minutes when after a great Tommy
Mottrom run, Brian Molloy scored a great goal to
put the east Galway side ahead, a lead they
would hold on to until the finish. Shane
Sheridan did add another point for Castlegar to
leave the half time score reading 1.01 to 0.03.
Kilnadeema/Leitrim got into the game straight
away in the second half and dominated for long
stages. The added a second goal three minutes in
when Liam Kelly picked a great ball from Tommy
Mottrom again and gave the Castlegar goalie no
chance. Aaron Broderick and Martin O'Brien soon
swopted points before Liam Kelly added another
for Kilnadeema/Leitrim to leave five between the
sides. Castlegar did not give up and had the
final score of the half when Eoin Molloy goaled
right on full time from a twenty one yard free
to leave the final scoreline reading
Kilnadeema/leitrim 2.03 Castlegar 1.04.This was
a wonderful victory for Kilnadeema/Leitrim and
follows up nicely on the Under 14 B championship
win in 2007.
